Tribute to Late Poet (Reported by kobimollikfoundation)

Shahitto Shangskriti Kendro arranged a civic program to mourn and memorize poet Motiur Rahman Mollik who passed away on 12 August 2010 at Square Hospital due to cardiac arrest. The program set at BIAM auditorium in Dhaka with more than twelve hundred fellows, friends and apprentices of the late poet, started at 5.00 pm and continued to the midnight.

Ex-chief justice Abdur Rouf was the chief guest and discussant of the program. Ex-Secretary of Bangladesh Govt Mr. Shah Abdul Hannan, renowned singer and lyricist Mr. Mostafa Zaman Abbasi, Mr Salahuddin Ahmed, elderly editor and researcher Janab Abdul Mannan Talib, educationalist Prof. Motiur Rahman, BFUJ President Ruhul Amin Gazi, Ex-Din of the faculty of pharmacy, University of Dhaka Chowdhury Mahmud Hasan, Ex chairman, Bangla Dept. of Dhaka University and the teacher of the deceased Janab S.M Lutfor Rahman, famous writer, Ex-chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Mrs. Zubaida Gulshan Ara, Ex-Director of Islamic Foundation Janab Mofazzol Hussain Khan were present as special guests.

A numerous number of friends and well-wishers of Mallik expressed and shared their deep shocks at the function among which the names of Janab Mahbubul Haque, Janab AZM Obaydullah, editor-24.net Sarder Farid Ahmed, Janab Gazi Enamul Haque, poet Hasan Alim, Director of Saimum Shilpi Ghoshthi Hosne Mubarak, poet Murtaza Basir, Janab Abul Kashem Mithun, Sharif Abdul Gofran, poet Aminul Islam, daughter of the late poet Nazmy Natia and the widow Sabina Mallik may be cited.

Saifullah Mansur, the president of Shahitto Shangskriti Kendro presided over the funtion whereas Janab Asad Bin Hafiz, Secretary of the same and Janab Sharif Bayjid Mahmud anchored the funtion jointly.

"Motiur Rahman Mollik was a poet of the line that was instigated by our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and the poet of renaissance Farrukh Ahmed." Said the honorable speakers. "He was saint and silent, far from self propaganda. One of the modern poets of Bangla literature. He was with several talents and pioneer of the rightist poet's in eighty's." "It is impossible to fill the gap of Motiur Rahman Mollik"- the stage felt and admitted the reality with great mourn.

The speakers condemned the postpone of the cultural program of saimum Shilpi Goshti, the cultural organization established by the late poet Mollik which was scheduled to be held at Mahanagar Natto Monch earlier. They claimed the government postponed the function without showing any reasonable ground and logic. The speaker calls upon the followers of Mollik to uphold his ideology, believe, pattern of cultural movement, honesty, courage and sense of patriotism.

Singers of Saimum Shilpi Gosthi, Anupom Shilpi Goshthi and Nimontron Shilpi Goshthi sang the songs of the departed lyricist and reciters recited the poems of the poet. The performences Of Mr. Mostafa Zaman Abbasi and Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed who took the lyrics of Motiur Rahman Mollik by their legendary voices impressed the audience and gave the function an extra dimension.
